Political strategist-turned-Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on national and state leaders, branding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav as “expired medicines” who, he alleged, are incapable of addressing corruption and unemployment.
“It is good that for the first time in Bihar, leaders feel the fear that the public may not vote for them if they don’t step out among the people,” Kishor told reporters. “But leaders like PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, and Tejashwi Yadav are like expired medicines. They cannot eradicate corruption or unemployment,” he added.
The remarks come months ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, where the primary contest is expected between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, spearheaded by the RJD.
Currently, in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats — BJP (80), JD(U) (45), HAM(S) (4), with support from two Independents. The Mahagathbandhan commands 111 seats, led by RJD (77), Congress (19), CPI(ML) (11), CPI(M) (2), and CPI (2).
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday flagged off his ‘Adhikar Yatra’, focusing on youth employment, women’s rights, respect for teachers, and improvements in Bihar’s health and education systems. The rally, covering districts left out during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, will conclude on September 20 in Vaishali after passing through Begusarai, Khagaria, and Madhepura.
